Greetings fellow teammates!
Hey Ted! I like the name Team Rack & Stack! Thats cool! Works for me!
My bow season opens Sept. 16th and I can't wait. I shoot a PSE Bruin.
For gun season I'm in shotgun territory and I use a Remington 870 Express 20 gauge.
I also like to muzzleload and have been successful with my .50 caliber Black Diamond.

Just aim for the exit hole.

LOL! Yeah...good advice!
Last year I shot over twice and under twice. 4 opportunities, 4 clean misses.
I've had plenty of misses myself. It's only a matter of time before you connect. When I shoot now I am always thinking of where my arrow will exit. I focus on that and release.
I hope this is my year to connect! I love my bow and I'm shooting well right now. I can't wait! Come on Sept. 16th!
Once you make it happen with the bow, alot of those other hunting techniques will lose some of their appeal.
Sold my hunting rifle this year (bought a youth model .243 for my 7 yr old) and doubt I'll be eating anything unless he gets it or an arrow slips through it first. It's been 6 years since I shot a deer with anything but a bow.
Roll on Oct 1st...

Nice work. You would have to put Bob Lee Recurve, Archery Research and Fred Bear on mine. Beman Arrows, CE Maxima Hunter, Predator Vane, Gateway Feathers, Stone Mountain String and Cables.

So how is everyone's preseason rituals going? I finally got all of my treestands up and my trailcams down. I got one decent 11 pointer o film (I'll try to get it posted later on) and several smaller bucks and does.
I got my new arrows all lined up and ready to shoot, Easton Axis FMJ. Those are some heavy arrows, they could probably pass completely through any animal. My Old Glory is shooting better than ever in part to my shooting every single day. I actually put up a permanent tree stand in my back yard to practice from (my neighbors think I am a nut case, they just don't understand).
I have all my cloths washed and sitting in scent-free bags with broken leaves and some apple chips and some other stuff keeping them away from scent contamination.
Well, it is only 3 weeks away and it is driving my crazy, I have got to get out there and hunt, I hope you all feel the same way. Good luck!

Well team, I tried.
If you read my post on the main whitetail thread, you know that I shot a 4 point on Sat., opening day but then couldn't find the deer.
The shot was a little too far back and he ultimately vanished without a blood trail.
My first deer ever with a bow and this just had to happen. *sigh*
Anyway, I'll be back out there soon. I'm still kinda hoping to see the guy I saw on the last day of bowhunting last December. He was a nice 8 point then. If he survived, he'll probably be a 10 now.

Well me and my buddy shot bow again tonight... We started out at 10.. then went to 20...then 30... then 40... and then we tried 50 and 55. We both were hittin the bag... I hit the top of the bullseye circle twice... He was comin close and had good groups at 50 and 55... My groups were kinda all over the bag... Not ever gonna take a 50 or 55 yard shot in real life... But its fun to practice... We went and picked out spots as well tonight... I am going to be set up facing a recently chopped corn field...On the edge of the tree line... but back in the brush about 5 yards... about 25 yards to my left.. There is a trail that the deer like to run to get in and out of the woods... So i should be in good shape...I positoned him facing the opposite direction... about 60 yards behind me... I am going to let him have the better spot... Where he is settin up is in the woods... along a brush hogged small waterway that the deer like to run.. and where two other trails that they run all meet... And he is about 15 yards away from where all three trails meet... There is also a pretty good rub on the tree infront of where he is gonna be saturday... but who knows what'll happen... We are both excited and cant wait... This Friday after school he is coming over to shoot... then we are gonna go to bed and wake up around 5ish... and head out to the field... Hopefully if nothing else we will see some things and learn some things... The best part for me is just being there... I may take my ameristep blind that is just one of them ones that fold out into like 3 or 4 circles and put it infront of where he is going to be at.. that away he has alittle more cover than what there is... I figure if i put it out tomorrow... the deer should be somewhat used to seeing it there by saturday..
Well i gotta go...
Take it easy...

Well yesterday... Nothin really came through..
I got up at 5 and walked out the door at 5:15 and it was pooring down rain and there was a pretty good breeze going. We still were deterimend to go...so we were gonna ease into our spots... got my buddy to his spot... and headed down towards mine... I was getting ready to ease around the corner and looked up where my spot was up the hill and saw 2 deer, and the one was laying down and the other was bobbing its head up and down. So i slowly turned back around and eased back to my buddies spot. I was thinking that as it got later in the morning... the deer would come out down towards his spot... I told him that he got first shot and that i was just going to watch and see what happened... So we sat there and waited... The rain started picking up and was coming down pretty good... The wind was picking up too.. It was cold!! We sat there for an hour and a half before we decided that it was too cold and windy and wet. So we headed back towards the house and waited on the front to pass... As it turns out... We no sooner got back to the house and the wind died down and the rain had become just a spitting sprinkle.. I went into the house and grabbed the spotting scope and began to look for deer. I saw a doe and a smaller doe walking through a field that was leased out so i cant hunt it. Then i looked over on the land i can hunt and saw 3 does running across a hay field and i watched them as they ran to a point of woods and entered it. Then we got some lunch and headed back out... It was about 3 by the time we got out there..This time he went to his spot and i went to my spot... I sat there waiting and listening... Then about 3 hours later, we decided that it was time to head home... Considering that it was spitting rain and we could hear thunder in the off distance... So we got home and called it a day..
I aint went out yet today.. I plan on heading out this evening hopefully if all goes well...
I hope to see some activity this evening... Its a nice day out.. I believe its in the mid 50s and there is a gentle steady breeze and its sunny.
Hopefully i'll have some better luck this evening...

Hey team... Sorry i havent been posting alot this week... My computer is messed up so i have to try and keep it from locking up everytime i try and open a web page...
I walked out the door this morning and it was really cold!!!
I cant go huntin today...Cause i have to clean up the house and get ready for our schools homecoming dance tonight... But i do plan on going out hunting tomorrow morning i hope.. if i dont sleep in..but if i do...i'll hit the woods when i get out of bed... I know right now it is so foggy out that i cant even see out of my windows...
But the sun is coming out and starting to clear it up... So we'll see what happens..
Good Luck to you all!!
This time when i go to that spot i am moving down further to where i dont have just one small shooting window to shoot from.. I am gonna move down to where there isnt any windows just one big open place unless they go to far to the left of me. But i am hoping not to let them get that far...
Good Luck and Good Hunting.

Where are the rest of our team members? They've been quiet. Game plan is still the same for me. I am going to ground check the first doe that comes within range. Now if that eight point comes by tomorrow night then I will let the air out of him.

Hey guys... i check the forum at least 2 times a day but with fall work outs for baseball bow hunting has been tough! The NCAA only allows us so many days in the fall to practice so we have been hard at it since the first of Oct. The good thing is Ive been hunting 3 times this year and ive seen around 20 deer in three trips! I had 2 close encounters saturday and almost scored on a big doe! However Im gonna be in the woods all day tomorrow.... its the only day we have off this week and im hitting the woods alll day tomorrow!

Well.. I didnt make it out last night... I was getting ready to walk out the door and i get asked where i am going by mom... She said no you have to stay here and get ready for the Football game... So i went back and put everything up... I did see a bunch of deer on the way... Had three does in a field next to the road and had a nice buck in another field on the way to the game...
Dad is huntin this morn...
I am gonna hunt this evening.
Good Luck All!

Well... I didnt make it out this evening...
Dad came home and said he saw 1 doe and that was it...
We went to the local gun shop to look at some things... Didnt get nuffin..Just found alot of I wants... Then came home and shot the .22 to make sure it was capable of wackin some squirrels and chipmunks... And then put the gun up and dad said he needed some help with some things around the house... So i helped him with that and by the time we got done doin that it was pushin dusk...
So... I am going to go out tomorrow no matter what... Even if it is snowing like it did on Thursday and Friday... i am going...
