Dogs are just like people, they all have different personalities. First thing is become the dogs best friend, and no need to worry about training until about six months old or so. I work for a professional trainer so i know about anything you need to know about training your pup, but let it be a puppy for awhile.

Start training as soon as the dog recognizes his/her name. My lab was 9 weeks when he responded to his name. The next day training began and he is my absolute best friend and one hell of a bird dog now. He was flushing and retreiving birds at 6 months. I can't even touch a gun without him doing doughnuts and backflips on the basement floor!

The overall best advice is to read as many books as you can about training. I read a bunch of books by Richard Wolters. I really loved his method of training and it def. worked.
