Take a close look at the Rino models from Garmin. They are a great addition to the pack. Especially if you hunt with friends who own them. Garmin is a good product all around.

I'm kind of a GPS guru from one of my hobbies, so I'll give ya my .02 cents

Get a Garmin Legend (blue etrex) or better model, or a Rhino 120 or better unit if you want radios also. Sticking with these models or higher you can upload maps to them that to me is what makes GPS units so great. I've had one for many years and I can tell ya the maps you can upload to them are essential to use them for more then a glorified smoke signal of where you want to go.

http://www.tigergps.com/garetleggpsr.html One of the cheapest places on the net for GPS units. The topo map software is a must have to accompany your gps. Together you in it for a little less then $220.00

Also this user quackquack2001 on ebay sells them alot. Also has high recomendations..

You can also browse http://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...hp?showforum=13
and watch for good deals that come along there.
After you get it be sure to look for a couple geocaches in your area so you can try out your new gps, very fun and addicting hobby...

Good luck..Have fun there well worth the money..
