Suggestion -- SHOCKGOBBLERS

OR

turkey hunters mostly by themselves and sometimes hoot to get a shock gobble --- LONELYHOOTERS  biggrin.gif
Tebpac
Shockgobblers has sort of a ring to it.......................
The Beav
I like ShockGobblers too. Although, my boys liked LonelyHooters.
Tebpac
We might be lonely if we can't cash in on any lonely birds........
The Beav
I agree. Let's go w/ ShockGobblers. Are we gonna have one of those banners or whatever they are called. I see some of the other teams have pictures and the team name on the thread. If we are, it won't be me making it, I have no clue how to do it.
huntingislife
Shockgobblers it is,,,, Is anyone good at working with computers so we can make a banner with team name our names and a nice pictures of some birds?
RiverBend
Here is a banner I came up with. What should I change or what would you guys like on a banner for the team istead of this?
The Beav
Maybe it's this computer, but no banner shows up.??
bowhuntr74
SSHHOOOCCKKK G O B B L E R S!!!. Sorry, just gettin excited. Season here in La. is only 7 days off. biggrin.gif
RiverBend
Sorry, I will get it taken care of and re-posted!
RiverBend
Let's see if this works. I am not really impressed with how it came out so I will work on something different but here is a banner in the mean time at least.
The Beav
Yeah, the banner looks good. Apparently my computer at work does not show the banner. I came home and tried here and it was on all your posts.
Was out and checked patterns today. I'm just itchin' to get huntin. Only 25 days 'til departure for KS.
Tebpac
I'm sure it looks great. My computer isn't picking it up...............Here's to a few more days in the morning sun listening for gobbles...
bowhuntr74
ok guys, I have given the other teams plenty of time. laugh.gif Saturday it all starts here in Louisiana.
Tebpac
Good Luck!

Honda or Yamaha. Owned both and can't really say a bad thing about either. I also owned a polaris...no comment.

I bought an 05 450 SE Kodiak b/c I liked the features for the dollar and as sad as it sounds like the black metal flake. Pulled 2 bull moose,1 bull elk, trailers, plowed snow and also had some fun as well. It has been a great ride. Only thing I did was swap out the factory skins for 26 gbc Gators. Something I would have done with any of them. 0 26367 0 0 0 0 216227 0 1848 bob 1 1 68.191.160.210 1143650559 0 Just figured it out Stout. you just needs to slow down and take a breath. There is nobody in alliance with PETA here. Nobody is trying to break the hunters up. Its just a freakin Seal hunt for goodness sakes. The question asked was about opinions about the seal hunting not if we should burn these people at the stake and anybody else that trys to mess with hunters! That is where a lot of locked bucks are found dead. Plus if you are going to try to help free them you can get away from them a lot Quicker on dry land.
2 call the conservation police & see what they could do to help save them. They know what has probably worked best in the past. The chainsaw is the best way I have ever seen on T.V. to get them free. I have seen this a couple of time & both bucks were saved.
Worst case if you can not get them free the DNR can kill one or both if needed. They would probably let you keep the meat & racks if you wanted them & not have to waste 1 or both your tags.

Notice how I put waste. I would get no sense of accomplishment from having to put down either of those bucks.
Those guys in the video said it was a mercy killing
I see nothing wrong with taking the video of it. It teachs us all something.
Ya I think I know of a better way. They probaly do too now. Live & learn.

Those guy did risk their lives to save a deer.

Buy the way if anyone ever come on this type of thing. Do not try this alone. GET HELP !!! Even locked up a buck could kill you in a heart beat.

After a while, God, having heard the arguing for hours says Enough! Why argue? I will assign each of you a task on the computer, whoever completes it quickest is best on computers. Both Jesus and the Devil agree, So the next day the time comes for the task, God hands them both a booklet and says This is your task... and sets a time limit. Jesus, sits down in front of the computer opens the book and reads it slowly cover to cover. The devil on the other hand rips open the packet to the first page and begins working furiously on the computer, going through as many of the programs as he can as fast as possible. Suddenly there is a large *BOOM* and all the power goes out. The devil is outraged, he begins yelling and screaming curses you've never heard in your life, breaking the table and throwing his chair. Jesus, sits calmly watching all of this with a cool look on his face. After a time the power comes back on, but the time limit has passed. God says to the two The time limit has passed, print out all that you have done So Jesus and the Devil begin printing, Jesus' work is coming out neatly while the devil prints nothing but blank pages. He again goes into a rage, breaking tables and chairs, yelling and screaming curses you've never heard in your life, when god stops him, Saying Satan, do you know why Jesus is able to print out his work and you aren't? Are you speaking for TEAM STICK'EM or just yourself?

SOME OF THE QUOTES FROM MEMBERS IN THIS THREAD SO FAR:

1.the seals come onto the ice flows to rest and the hunters club them with a big spike almost like a gaff,

2.wondering if you guys think this is right?

3.I have no problem with it when its native people doing it to survive. At first i thought it was going to be some rich people clubing seals for the hell of it. If it were that then id say no.

4.Why would someone wanna shoot a seal? Are they that bored with their lives? Leave em' for the bears.

If i need to slow down and take a breath and we as hunters, anglers, and trappers cannot stick together, and insist on attacking
our fellow outdoors people and techniques then we will fall into the trap that has been
carefully set by the animal rights organizations: divide and conquer. (It's not a new
strategy. but it's one that has worked for generations.)

COHA has been accused of jumping the gun on the anti-deer hunting, anti-bow hunting
campaign that we knew was coming. There has been definite movement in the Kitchener
area and this letter seems to confirm our suspicions.

It's time to put an end to bow-hunting

The Record (Kitchener, Cambridge and Waterloo)
Section: OPINION
Byline: Bruce Thornton
Column: LETTER OF THE DAY

I have been following the bow-hunting debate with increasing interest over the past few
weeks. I am a small c Conservative, right-wing gun owner and never considered myself an
animal activist. I did a little research on bow hunting and it proved to be a real
wake-up call.

It became apparent that it is a very inefficient way to hunt and has no upside or any
place in modern society. I own bows but only use them for target practice with my
grandson. Never would I or any hunter I know use a bow for hunting.

There are many irrelevant issues raised by pro-bow hunters (crop damage, vehicles
hitting deer, need for culls, deer die and suffer in the wild anyway, bows have been
used for thousands of years, it is a real sport, etc.), none of which address the real
issue -- cruelty. If deer must be killed, then please do it humanely. I have seen
pictures of deer walking around with arrows in them and have read many articles relating
the suffering other animals go through when impaled with an arrow. It simply is not
necessary.

I appreciate Larry Anstett bringing this disgusting and pointless cruelty to every
caring person's attention and wish him success in banning bow hunting. Any less would be
an affront to a society that prides itself on doing the right thing. I beg our elected
officials to stand up and listen to the vast majority of citizens who find this sport
repulsive.

We have moved on from so many things that were once considered acceptable but have been
shown for what they are --anachronistic.

Please write or call your local legislator if you find, as I do, that it is past time to
end this barbaric practice.

I went out this morning to listen with my little brother brother and heard 30 or 35 gobbles on the roost and just after flydown time. I also saw two strutters with about 15 hends driving to school this morning out in a big field. April 20th sounds about right to me. 0 26387 0 0 0 0 216288 0 1447 NCgobbleget'r 1 1 216.10.185.123 1143672747 0 Well I got good news and bad news!

Good News: I got one this past wknd in GA, but it was only a jake, two toms and a jake came in and my friend and dad shot the toms, so I shot the jake. The 1 of the 2 toms was 21lbs/10.5beard/1 1/8 spurs, and the other was 19lbs/9 3/4beard/1 spurs. My jake wasnt that big so I wasnt going to put it on here anyways but I'll remember the camera this next time.

Bad News: Dont have any pics to put on here forgot to take them before we skinned/plucked them. lol. oops. Oh well, Im sure I'll get another one before the yrs over with.

Leaving tomorrow for a week down there, hopefully the lord will let me harvest a nice one. Oh yeah, Pretty Boy and Pretty Girl decoy system is awesome.

In Jersey, youth day is April 15th and this will be my first ever turkey hunt! Also in Jersey, we have to pick days in which to hunt. Sence I am a youth then I get first pick. I will be hunting on saturdays! We can only hunt until 12p.m. All together, there are about 5 weeks in the season but I can only hunt on saturdays so I have about 6 hunts. I will be out there by myself on youth day. I hope to get my first turkey by myself. There is a flock of about 30-40 birds behind my house. They are not pressured at all. I have stud 20 yards from them in a red shirt and they didnt care that I was there. I dont want to bushwack one either. But If I have to then I will. Wish me luck!!! biggrin.gif

I'm new to this site, but I'm a Primos fan for sure. I started turkey hunting last year here in Mississippi. I have started catching on more this year. Mouth calls are my latest challenge. My dear wife is about to through me out the house. I figure that's fine more time for hunting. tongue.gif . Ok topic. Monday I was hunting in an area were I normally deer hunt. I have two raised shooting houses on this spot. As I was walking out of the woods I decided to look at the condition of the houses after Hurricane Katrina. Well the door was half torn off, but the unbelieveable suprise was two(2) large turkey eggs laying in straw on the carpet floor of the house. I could not believe it after all I have learned about the laying habits of the bird. Well I verified the appearence of the eggs with a game warden friend of mine. Sure enough there turkey eggs. So I just wanted to introduce myself and tell this story I look forward to reading more posts here and hopefully pick up some much needed advice from you folks. 0 26368 0 0 0 0 216295 0 2793 bigmandeerhunter 1 1 24.52.224.39 1143674758 0 congrats on the bird. sounds like you have some fun and good luck when you go away. i got just over a month till i cant hunt. Im luckie enough to be able and get out calling (not shooting) for my one buddie who lives on the rezz and he can hunt year around so needless to say ive been going out with him alot to pratice calling and all i can say is if the birds stay like they have been it will be extreamly nice. My buddie has all ready killed 3 toms and 1 jake. also this past sunday morning when i went out with him we walked up to the edge of on field because their was a big bird gobbling there all morning and it turn out that their was a tom breading a hen 150 yards down from us. Also they have been struting alot and and responding to the calls vary well so im hoping it stays this way for season cuz it looks promesing. Im guess it might have to do with the fact of a mild winter or at least around me we did.

I agree. If you call too loudly to him while he is on the roost he might shut up. If you call lightly to him and he gobbles back close afterward, then just let him go, or maybe just call one more time. What he wants is for you (the supposed hen) to come to him, if you just stop calling he will start to get curious and then want to come to you. You want to make him come to you not you go to him. I took 3 Rios down in Oklahoma and will try to get pics on. NONE of them are worth writing home about. They were my first Rios ever, so I still had a good time. All were jakes, biggest was 17lbs with a 4.5 beard and .5 spurs. Should have scored here in Iowa yesterday but couldn't get a clear shot on a HUGE BOSS GOOBLER at 30 yards through the thick stuff. But tomorrow, will be another story! Man alive are they gobbling good, but once they hit the ground it is all over. Really have to know the ground you are hunting to cash in on these birds.
The Beav
Congrats. guys. I leave for Kansas Thurs. nite. Trying to get all the chores done before then. Can't wait to get huntin'.
The Beav
I got two in KS. over Easter weekend. The one I'll be entering weighed 21# 8 oz. 1 1/8 spurs and 10 5/8 beard. I gotta take the time to figure out how to post the pic's. Busy hunting here in Pa right now. My son killed a good bird in the youth hunt on April 22nd. 23# 8 oz. 10 beard 1 3/16 spurs. It was his first one after 4 yrs of trying.
