We need to come with a good name for our team. Also where is everybody from. I think some good team names are Gobbler Getters or Beard Busters.
Randolph Cox
Hammer is my friend, and one of my hunting partners.I'm pretty sure you can count on him.I'll help him post his pics.He doesn't visit much.He ended his season last year on opening day.He shot 3 birds with one shot, and one of them had 3 beards. Here's a pic of his spurs, and beards from those birds I fixed up for him. biggrin.gif It was difficult to figure out a way to do the triple bearded tom....but he was happy with it.

Glad to have Hammer, thanks RC. 8)

I think Spur Slayers would be the best name for the team like Cats Hunter picked. If everyone else likes it someone should get ahold of Randolph to tell the official team name. Also does anyone know how to do computer graphics for our team logo.
nyturkeyduster
Yeah, I like the Spur Slayers. biggrin.gif

Has anyone found any gobblers yet? I have a few located and my season is still about 6 weeks away. I don't think they will diperse much more.

hey guys Ive asked WVOhioFan to make us a team avatar. Once i recieve it i will send to everyone.

Live outside of Salt Lake City (not mormon for those of you wondering).  Grew up hunting Easterns in Ohio.  Mostly chase the Merriam's these days with an occasional trip home.  Start my season April 8th in WY and SD.  If I tag out early I'll probably run up to MT for a few days.  Later I'll be in southwest CO and might try to sneak in NE or ID depending on my early season luck.  Anyway, thought The Wingbones might be a good name but it doesn't matter to me, like the others as well.  Good luck to all.

Birdman, I guess you won't put in for another UT tag for a couple more years?

My brother lives in southern UT (he is mormon for those wondering), and he gets collared into taking 10 or 12 different people hunting every year. He's a popular guy soon as the draw is done. Knows those southern UT turkeys as well as anyone.

I'll be starting my season this year in Florida, on our annual family trip the week of Mar. 27, but I doubt I'll get a chance at a bird since I'll be calling for the boys. Hopefully I'll get a chance to carry a gun a day or two before the season in NC ends...

I started yelping at him and he moved off to a hen that i couldnt see. Once he dissappeared two jakes ran around a small bend in the tree line directly at me and the rest is history. I got my first turkey!!! Sunday morning i called in a longbeard in the same field for a friend who missed it, i think he shot over him. sad.gif But thank all of you who gave me tips on how to hunt my property, there are about 6 toms roosting on it! I cant wait to get back out! sorry for such a long post 0 26628 Called in and killed my first ever turkey on Saturday 1 0 0 0 218569 0 3187 Randolph Cox 1 1 66.20.137.106 1144608964 0 beno, did that map help any?Where are the birds roosting? 0 25942 0 0 0 0 218570 0 1116 hunter2121 0 0 67.162.149.157 1144609348 0 my brother, shooter and I went out yesterday and got in on them right away. We had them gobbling all morning, but couldn't get them to commit. Then in the evening we called in a nice tom, but it came in behind us, oked around, couldn't see anything and left. So we get up to talk about it and all three of us standing in the open, and in comes a flock of 14 turkeys. 7 of which were jakes. We stood still and all of them walked by! Who ever doesn't believe in predator camo can take a lesson from this. It was sweet! So we were going to roost them but they just kept walking,a nd walking and we ended losing them.

It was a great day, even with out a harvest. Pretty sweet! I am going to go try again on Wednesday. Are you headed back down to where you were last year? 0 26613 0 0 0 0 218571 0 3187 Randolph Cox 1 1 66.20.137.106 1144609552 0 Hey ya'll.I've got good news and bad news.I called up a bunch of hens and jakes for Hammer thursday, and we were going to let them all go by in hopes a big tom was behind them, but we never could see one behind them.We were in a burn,so we could see pretty far..anyways 2 of the last Jakes started putting, and I told him if he wanted a bird he'd better take it now,and I told him to shoot the biggest one.He decided he wanted one(5th bird ever),and got him.He had a 5 beard, probably weighed 14lbs,and nubs for spurs. We had been having alot of action,so we just cleaned the bird in the field, and kept hunting. The bad news is I didn't have my camera, tape measurer or scales,so hopefully he can get a bigger one later.I have all my picture taking, and measuring equipment in my truck now.
birdman24
Just got back from WY and SD. Killed both my birds opening day within 1 1/2 hrs of one another and only about 3/4 of a mile apart. Obviously I was hunting right on the state lines. Not much on the scoring though. Largest only scored 51.75. 19 lbs. 8 7/8 inch beard. 3/4 inch spurs. My buddy killed his at first light today after we roosted it last evening.

JMS,
You must have gotten a nice bird with a score of 72 points!!! Way to go, let's see some pictures. I'm sure you've posted them somewhere. Let me know where I can take a look. Love those SE Ohio Easterns.
nyturkeyduster
You guys, I must apologize. I had a misfire this morning on a huge gobbler. Story is in the turkey room.
buckslayer04
hey team,

Is most of everybody's season done? mine is. i got us a few points to help boost us up a lil with that jake.
birdman24
Seems I may still have a chance at another bird or two. I'll be going to northeastern Oregon for Memorial Day weekend. It's only going to be a two or three day hunt in an area I've never been. I think the odds are against me getting one but who knows, can't kill 'em from the couch.
buckslayer04
well good luck. Hope ya kill one.
