To put the picture in the signature copy the picture and save it to your file. Then up load it to your favorite share site and past the img into the signature  I am glad you guys like them. It is almost dead even on the vote. If you want to use either or and switch during the season I have no problem with it! Just save the ones you will use. We might come up with a new one if we start to score heavy! We will have the best ones!

I'm not saying were gonna win hands down, but i think we have one helluva team! Should be fun. First bird in already and I have a month to go. I've seen some big boys already scouting. One i swear is at least 30 pounds. We'll see if i can bag em.

timberghost6
Mar 19 2006, 10:56 AM
I've seen a lot of birds. It seems to me they are still bunched up fairly good. Although I have seen some small groups. They are not gobbling hardcore yet, but i feel very soon.

I've never taken a turkey with my shotgun so what size shot do I need?
Will a modified choke work?
I have taken plenty of turkey with my bow so I want to try something different. I will still use my bow, but I want to take one bird with my old shotgun.
Thanks
stoutk
Mar 22 2006, 08:26 AM
anything from a 12 to a 20 will work...obviously 12 will reach farther and knock down harder...but within 30 yards you're good to go with a 20...
as far as chokes...get the tightest choke you can find...if you have a full shoot it...if you have an extra full, or an extra extra full even better...if you don't want to spend a fortune on chokes buy a 20 dollar turkey choke from Walmart...undertaker or primos...but you want a really tight choke to shoot at a turkeys head! good luck...
I'm just opposite of you...never taken one with a bow...should be fun trying

I have a Benelli Nova 12 with a H.S. Undertaker choke and TRU-GLO sights. Last year I shot Remington Nitro Loads and they patterned real well...32 hits in turkeys head at 30 yards. This year im gonna try some winchester supreme loads....I heard they pattern awesome.

I got some good news today! I went scouting this morning and heard one gobbler and he was gobbling a few times on the roost and still when he was on the ground. I then went into the woods to try to find his roost tree and found the biggest strut mark I have ever seen! It was like 30 feet long. I ended up seeing the bird a little later in a field. Its a monster!
timberghost6
Mar 30 2006, 08:33 AM
Good deal, I'm looking for a monster as well. The bird i shot last year scored around 80. Not record size, but good for a turk with only 1 beard.

timber, ya man thats a real nice bird....i hope you get that monster you were talkin about this season.
