I have a Sportdog 1200 electric collar and would like to add a beeper for when the dog is out of sight in the brush or behind a fencerow or something. I have hunted with a guy who uses a hawk scream when the dog points. I became used to that and was thinking about the Sportdog Beeper. Anyone used one or have any advice? Thanks.........

I have the SportDog DSL-400 and like it. Has 4 sounds, 2 volume levels, and seems to function pretty well in regards to switching between run and point modes. It's nice to have the different sounds when hunting with other dogs and the hawk scream always seemed to keep the birds holding tight, especially the grouse and chukars. Although it seemed to have a detrimental effect on pheasants as they seemed to just keep running rather than flush.
Their customer service is good too. I previously had a low end PetSafe model that was horrible. I went to Cabela's to buy a new beeper of a different brade and the the SportDog/PetSafe rep was there and upgraded me for free to this model. I figured it was worth a try and I haven't considered buying another since. A friend of mine also bought one on my recommendation and he's been very happy as well after having big problems with Innotek's customer service.
