well it was the first one i have ever seen in the wild. it was about two weeks ago i was rabbit huntin i shot twice at a rabbit, then my friend yells pheasant i spun around and there it was. i saw the red head and blasted. i had 20 ga. 7 1/2 shot high brass (was that even big enough?). clean missed i think i was to shocked to shoot right....theres not many pheasants around here anymore. it sure was pretty though

They are truly a beautiful bird....the 7 1/2 is fine....I use a 7 1/2 with my 28 gauge and I bring them down.
Personally I'd use nothing smaller than 6's for pheasants. I pheasant hunt a lot and use 5's (my own reloads). To me 7-1/2's are better suited for quail or doves. Just my .02

I know some guys that go out and west and they shoot a little heavier load as well. Depending on choke and ability high brass 7.5 will work.
carol what gun is your 28 gauge. I am thinking of getting some tubes for my over/under so I can shoot a 28 as well.
