13 beard! Wowieee...have any bobcats around the area? So i jumped in my truck and went back to my spot around 7:30 pm and stayed in my truck and howled, Nothin doing. went for a drive to check out some other areas did some howls and nothing! around 9:30 went back again to my origional spot drove up turned off the truck and howled again, I wasn't even done with my first howel and they started screaming at me! it was such a beautiful sound!! there had to be at least 4-5 of them and it sounded like they howled and moved right away. It sounded like they moved close enough to see the truck or smell it. they never came within flashlight range. but they gave up so quick. I only got the first call back from them and some movement and then they didn't make a peep. after they gave up on me i moved the truck about a couple hundred yards away and howled and they called back one last time. Now i think i know where to go for em. I was hunting way to far away from the road and the truck all this time!!! 0 23696 0 0 0 0 191075 0 4536 skinnykid 0 1 66.211.132.238 1134100837 0 Hey wilsonman. just wanted to say good luck to you. i am new to coyotes also and i am in new hampshire so i feel your pain about the movies...
Hunting out here for yotes in kinda hard because of the landscape. in the movies they watch the yoted run in from a mile away. we dont always have that. make sure you let us know how it goes...... laugh.gif 0 23684 0 0 0 0 191076 0 2589 big buck shoter 1 1 65.219.76.211 1134100989 0 Southern Iowa

Well I managed to get out of Kansas City yesterday.......it was snowing hard and they de-iced the plane........I think we were number 3 of 6 flight that did not cancell.....

Got into Dallas......they held our boarding there for an additional hour or so.......we finally boarded and had to sit waiting for an hour...then they de-iced that American Airway eagle.......(flying skateboard) and we got into the Baton Rouge Intergalactic Airport..........where the Space Cadets lost our luggage somewhere in the terminal luggage unloading area.......left KC at 1:15 and got to BR around 10 last night.........

Steve and Tim were in Bama filming the ALDEER annual hunt at Valley Creek and had a great time and got lots of great footage!

Talked to Bronco and some of the guys from ALDEER on Steves cell phone and all I got was that everyone had a super great time........shame I had to sit in meeting for 3 days in cold country!

Got back to work and everything went to hell in a handbasket....started working on problems and one of the operators sent out a tanker truck load of product to a plant and they rejected because it did not meet a temperature spec........

He siad it did so I made him wait till the truck returned....tested it and it was off-spec.........he falsified the Certificate Of Analaysis, I told him he had to stay over and rework the product and get it ready for shipment in the morning and he told me NO............

Bad mistake........especially when he did it in front of two other employees.......I tried to give him an out by asking........ Are you refusing to follow a directive and being insubordinate? He said I am not doing it....no!

I told him he was suspended until further notice.......as he walked out the door and said I quit

This is a guy that begged for a job, wanted OT, and I let him off for days at a time when his stepmom was dyeing a few months ago......

Needless to say he is no longer employed...... PERIOD!

Gone for three dyas and I have to come back to a MESS like this!

Shows you how ungrateful some people can be!

Hope everyone got some hunting in !

I get one day this weekend.......maybe two!

(((I have rolled down a hill acting like I had 1 leg broke while kicking the other leg....primos bleat and bawl in hand screaming on it - why you ask? It was the first time my sister had ever been hunting...and we didn't see a thing. Now of course she thought I was nuts... told the whole town about it - but she went back out the next week with me and killed her first deer)))

Hunting can be much more fun than just killing a deer - you make the best of the worst.

AND BY THE WAY I AM NOT A POACHER

I will shoot at any big game if it is standing in the state that I have a tag for,I could care less if it runs over the border that is not against the law you have every right to retrieve it. Wyoming, Montana and Idaho are pretty close if I remember right. Washington is right up there too. The most monsters definetely come from Arizona and New Mexico but Utah also is producing some whoppers. I would say Oregon is definetely in the top 5. Also, dont let Wyoming fool you for quality either. We have produced quite a few 400 plus class bulls in the last few years and the numbers in general are rising big time. I bet Mr Jim Horn would submit a vote for Oregon being a top elk state since thats where he hangs his hat and has enjoyed much success. 0 23672 0 0 0 0 191110 0 3001 WyoWapati 1 1 69.146.56.39 1134125468 0 Good job Virginia. I read posts about these poor fellows that say they are lucky to kill 4 or 5 a season and we often kill that many on an outing. I got a brand new Foxpro FX3 a week ago and when I took it out on its maiden voyage, I called in 11 coyotes at once on my first set. I was so shocked and they surprised me so bad that I didnt kill any of them. I didnt even care, I was so thrilled. If I would have had my 12 ga with me I probably could have killed at least 4 they were coming so hard and fast. Example: 8 pts in Texas....they want 10 + points on deer. So, if there are 8s with inferior antlers or even 10+...they will take them out of the herd.

This is serious management and most probably have several farm hands to help locate and document herds and particular deer. 0 23690 0 0 0 0 191142 0 1879 deerlover 1 1 65.194.183.135 1134138134 0 Well, I don't have one to show this year...but I will post my buddies deer....I am sure you have all seen it already. Personally I was very impressed with the new catalog, and look forward to using some of the newer calls especially the new mouth calls for turkey, and elk. The smaller models were the ones I was glad to see as I've never had much luck with the regular sized mouth calls. These will allow me to at least try out using some for elk season.

The electronic route for some of the deer calls was interesting to say the least. I was a little suprised to see Will go down that road, but I hope it pays off for them. I don't think I'll purchase one though.

Most of the caps, and shirts looked good and I'll be purchasing a few. I would like to see more sweatshirt varities, but I'm sure there's more production cost involved there. Some different types of fleece would be cool as well, as I love my black vest I still have.

It's been discussed in another post, but I was dissapointed to not see the Hunters Orange Vest show up though. After seeing it in the newer Big Bucks DVD, I was looking forward to purchasing one for my CO rifle hunt next year. Maybe in 2007 it'll appear.

The picture format was cool, and funny at times. Although I'm not sure how long the trauma of seeing Will in his underwear will last.

One other thing. I just receieved and watched The Truth 17 Turkey DVD and I noticed that alot of the fellas are wearing Mossy Oak Forest Floor camo. Don't know if this is old stuff broke out of the closet or if Mossy Oak is reintroducing it. I sure hope so as that was one of my favorite patterns. Seems like some of the Primos Gang gets newer camo before it's out, as I noticed that in the last Big Bulls DVD Brad had on Mossy Oak Brush before it was out on the market. Maybe one of the ProStaffers in the know can chime in. We'll see I guess.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all! 0 23719 30th Ann. Catalog...So what do you think? 1 0 0 0 191144 0 1879 deerlover 1 1 65.194.183.135 1134138629 0 Pike County, IL $3,500 - $5,000 an acre for farm land....trees and crop land. Creeks, hills, etc...

Where I live, $2,500 an acre.

I think prices will start coming down as there will be a new tax law in place for 2006. If you have more woods than farm land, you are going to start getting taxed for recreation ground.....a much higher rate than what they get taxed at currently.

This will force some people to sell! Sell cheaper as well.....thank God...I am ready to buy some ground! 0 23700 0 0 0 0 191145 0 795 wmramse 1 1 198.160.96.7 1134138936 0 Dang! Glad I live in AR! Ya'll don't go telling anyone this - I don't want an influx of yankees buyin' up all the land here - but you can find good hunting land here for $800-1500/acre, depending on location, condition, and number of acres you buy. My father-in-law's sister-in-law just sold about 90 acres with a house, 3 smallish ponds, a barn, and a couple of sheds for about $140,000. That was up around Mountain Home, AR. My FIL's land up in MO is right on Bryant Creek (the creek is the property line), and that land with the amazing view you could have if you cleared some brush and timber is going for up to $20,000/acre. His neighbor up there is selling some PRIME hunting land, huge log cabin, barns, etc. for about $400,000. I think it was about 200 acres or so, but he only has a couple hundred feet of land that borders the creek. 0 23700 0 0 0 0 191146 0 4215 farmboy 1 1 216.249.145.229 1134139285 0 I was in the FFA. Both of these bucks were shot on or adjacent to our lease in southern Ohio near Paint Creek Lake.

The big nine point was shot by my father's neighbor, Sherri, about three minutes after it ran by me at 80 yards. I didn't realize how big it was until we went to pick it up in the truck.

The other buck is an eleven point that my father shot. It was in full velvet. When my father field dressed the buck he found out that it had no testicles. We figure the lack of testosterone had something to do with the buck not losing it's velvet. His scent glands had hardly any odor either. The buck appeared to be pretty old. His teeth were worn down pretty far.

I will shoot at any big game if it is standing in the state that I have a tag for,I could care less if it runs over the border that is not against the law you have every right to retrieve it. If that is the case and they found where he shot it at and there is a blood trail and tracks in MT this will not stand up in court if that is true.

Actuall there was a case just like that here in Idaho Shane involving a police officer hunting on a road that was a border for 2 hunting units. Shot a elk on his side it crossed the road and died. As he was cleaning it a Game warden comes along and cites him for hunting out of his unit. It held up in court with the jury convicting him. 12 of his fellow peers as the way this countries laws work. If it holds up in court you have to believe that your in the wrong.

Just as in the human element there is always a bad apple no matter what proffession your in. Your very few examples though may be leaving a bad taste in your mouth does not mean that the rest of Idahos Fish and Game offices and Washingtons officers are all bad. I've gotton a great impression of the Idaho Fish and Game officers and what they do for around my hunting area, but then again I've never threatened to shoot one either. 0 23628 0 0 0 0 191178 0 4067 Primos_girl 1 1 72.25.31.74 1134143695 0 I say, if you want to spend time with me... You can buy open ground for 500-1000 an acre. The more you buy the less it costs. If it's got woods, especially timber to log, it gets more expensive. Chances are excellent that he'll get a chance at a deer.

It is hands down the best pump action shotgun made, It is everything a Mossy or Remi wants to be but cant. I have two and love them both. plan to buy a third this summer. Benelli is supposed to bring out the new Super Nova or Nova II then. It is rumored to have Changeable stocks, Comforttech and Cryotech. They are also beeing slimmed down a bit. I will buy one of them in 12 guage for sure and maybe one in the rumored to come 10 Guage.

Good luck finding a used one.

How about a plain old Coyote and fox tally, as was suggested.....

January 1 til March 31....See who can whack the most....2 points for a coyote (4 if you put in a digital pic, so that keeps people honest...)

1 for a fox, 2 with a digital.....

See who can run up the highest.....

Should foxes be worth more or less than yotes??? Not many foxes in my area......

If you use carbon you will have much better penetration with them if they are weighted down. I use weight tubes and the heaviest broadhead you can find. For Elk your arrow should weigh at least 400 grains and many Western hunters will shoot arrows up to 600 grains. It may slow down your arrow some but remember in the formula for kinetic energy (KE=mass x velocity x velocity /450,240) weight is just as important to penetration as speed. 0 23575 0 0 0 0 191212 0 4545 MAhunter 0 1 71.10.241.10 1134151538 0 In MA a wooded buildable lot with not too much wet land is about $80,000-$110,000 (for a 2 acre lot). when we bought 20 years ago it was $16,000. we used to be a cow town now there are more god dang houses, makes me mad jus talkin. i wanna move to the middle of nowhere. and buy land for 1,000 an acre. 0 23700 0 0 0 0 191213 0 1879 deerlover 1 1 65.194.183.135 1134151744 0

Here in western N.Y., it varies alot. You can buy open ground for 500-1000 an acre. The more you buy the less it costs. If it's got woods, especially timber to log, it gets more expensive. It also depends on how close to the city and which county you live in. I had a chance to buy 480 acres in a nearb county last spring for 126,000. There is a lot of tools needed.....meat grinder, sausage stuffers, etc.

We always debone our deer during the season, freeze the meat, then kill a fresh hog to mix with. weigh out the meats, add seasoning (family recipe),grind together into batches (twice), then stuff into casings. Hang in our smokehouse for a few weeks, then freeze it.

I'm not sure of their weight? We caped and packed everything out where we were. They were spring bear though. I am mounting both of them life size. I thought to myself on the way up, that if I would get 2 of them that I would do one rug and one life size. Well, when I got the black one first, I figured he would be the one I was going to life size, since he was my first bear, but then 2 days later I shot the cinnamon, I thought well, I'm going to have to mount him life size too, because he is neat and the larger of the two. I guess that I am going to have to go up again, if I want a rug. Thanks, for the reply. I had tons of fun and would go up there again in a chevy heartbeat.
