That is absolutely my biggest fear! Wounding a great deer. It would be hard to pack the bags and give up but I understand and truely feel bad for you. I've made bad shots and deer and they have expired quickly and good shots and has taken alot of time to find them. WHO KNOWS!
Its the unfortunate reality of bow hunting. IT DOES HAPPEN EVENTUALLY and that stinks. Sorry again and wish you the best in the future. If you see him on trail cam we'll both celebrate.

But disagree that beginners should send their calls back to the company to be tuned. Tuning just isn't that hard. I think just about anyone can learn to tune a goose or duck call with a little experimentation. And end up with a better sound than if they send it back to the call company. That is unless they can take it right into the company and be there to play it as it's being tuned. To tune it properly the person that is going to use it needs to see if certain changes produced the desired result. So I have to encourage beginners to learn to tune there calls as soon as they buy them (hopefully that's well ahead of season) or as soon as the season ends. 0 23394 0 0 0 0

If you want to use some lure still I'd recommend Buck Thrasher II from Kishel's, www.kishelscents.com is the site. It's a dominant buck lure I use. The stuff is awesome thorughout the season and I have used it for years with good success. Making sure you're comfortable while shooting, have a slightly bent arm, take a deep breath as you draw then exhale as you find your pins, keeping an open hand is extremely important to keep the bow from shifting from side to side and getting a proper release, if you shoot a release find one that straps tight and allows you to put all the draw weight on the band which basically is more your wrist than your hand, also find a system of either dropping your pins onto your target or coming up. I'll be hunting units 75 and 751 just north of Durango with the muzzleloaders. I've got 2 PP but am uncertain whether that will get me a bull tag. The DOW has said that I have a decent chance. My questions is what is considered a decent chance??? Percentage??? My hunting buddy and I both have 2 PP, so should be apply together as a group, or apply seperate (can you even apply as a group?) If we don't get drawn for the muzzleloader season, we'll be bringing our bows, but since we've never seen the country before, we figure our chances are improved of getting in range with the smoke poles rather our twig and sticks. Thanks in advance for anyones and everyones educated opinion. Only 9 more months, with the hardest ones to come since our Whitetails season up here in WI closes next week (Plus is **** cold!).

Always shoot the bow which feels best to YOU! Dont listen to others impressions of name brands. You'll be a better shooter by sticking to the bow which feels best in your hands. Go to a pro shop and shoot those two bows one after the other. Close your eyes if you have to and have a friend hand you the bows. My dad is a gun collector and I literally have my choice of dozens of pumps and autos, but if I'm heading out into the field for a serious day of hunting, the Nova is always in my hand. If I take anything else, it's just for fun. I've taken my Nova to ND the past few years...its been dunked in water, had 3 inches of snow on it, fallen down rocky embankments, and once the dog pissed on it...and it's still my best work gun. I've never had it jam on me once. If you can get your hands on a used one, I'd make sure the slide rails are still in good shape and haven't been bent. And try to get all the different chokes you'll need with it, then hit the field and enjoy. Good luck.
