Last year I finally let my inner desire of nailing one of these pesky, deer alerting, critters with my bow. Talk about stress relief. How many of you have had squirrels dancing around barking at you and you wanted more than anything to nail that little monkey! Try it.

Congratulations biggrin.gif

It is fun to get a squirrel with a bow....I got this one last year with a recurve out of my dining room widow...nothing like hunting in a heated stand. laugh.gif

what do the squerrils taste like. and how do you cook them?

They do taste like chicken only much richer.

We boil ours first about 10 minutes, to tenderize and get rid of the wild taste and remove any hair. Then we batter them with flour, little salt and pepper and fry em up like you would chicken.

Sometimes my mom would pour cream of mushroom soup over them in the frying pan.

Mmmmm Mmm good!

I boil them as well. Also they are pretty good after sitting in the crock pot all day.

That is a funny story. My cousin and I were shooting our bows at my deer target in my backyard. My range goes out to 50 yards and we have become pretty good at nailing the deer target. Well, we just got done shooting and were headed to retrieve our arrows when I noticed a rabbit at the edge of my lawn and wood line. So naturally we both knocked an arrow and lined up for a shot. My cousin let down because he couldn't tell how far it was but I held my bottom pin right on it. I released and we both watched as my arrow smacked it right in the side of the head!!! I know that it was a lucky shot but I figured the rabbit was right at fifty yards which my bottom pin is set for. Sure enough we paced it out and it was the exact distance to my 3d target!! My cousin and I couldn't believe it. Didn't waste any meat though shooting it through the head!!

It sure is fun to try! I have lost more than one arrow trying though. Usually after they have half emptied my bird feeders, pellet guns work nice also. Though I have not gotten a squirrel with my bow, I did remove a cotton tail from my vegtebale garden. The next door neighbor thanked me when he found out. said it cleaned out his garden earlier in the year!
