Well, I am going after deer hunting in the morning. Got my Vest and sheels and gun all ready to go. Have no dog, so hopefully our friend goes too, he has 3 kids who cant hunt... Make em walk in beetween the hunters lol. If not, we will have to work even harder for a bird. I have never shot a pheasant, so I am hoping to get one.

Its is more rewarding to shoot a pheasant with no dog. Me and my dad do it every year and we always limit out. where are you goin tommorow nick? Maybe I could meet you somewhere.
NJDeerHunter
Yah, but me being new to upland hunting, I dont know where to start, however, my dad and freind are real good at it. I guess I will be kicking brushpiles.
hunthard
Thats all you have to do is kick brush piles. If you dont have a dog theres nothing else you can do. If you are goin to public land(which I dont think you are) shoot the birds at whatever chance you get. The bird on public land dont fly to great because they are farm raised. And to pay $40.00 for a pheasant stamp is alot so shoot them the first chance you get. Even on the ground. But at hunting clubs we dont shoot the birds on the ground. we make them fly. Even if we have to go up to them and kick them. I only shoot birds on the ground on public land because if you pay $40.00 for a stamp then you should at least get one bird. JMO

good luck guys lookin foward to seein some pics of your pheasents.

Hey nick it sucks when you dont get a pheasent but like hunthard said shoot on the ground. I have been hunting pheasent for three years now and i have only gotten one and that was on the ground.

My uncle use to raise that was awesome have pheasent anytime yuo want. It was expensive though .

you guys have to have upland bird hunting stamps in New Jersey?
we got it good up hear in massachusetts we dont have to have a stamp but it doesnt matter, its like maybe once a year you get a shot at a bird

Good Luck guys!!

Well I am hunting stocked public land so there are alot of birds. There are almost no native pheasants left in NJ. People say the yotes and fox get them all but I dont believe that. I wish I could just walk out into the woods and kick up a bird but it doesn happen that way anymore.

it is because of the yotes and fox. now that they are in season, you see one, take it out.
