It has amounted to as much as we have gotten in the past three winters combined. How do you think the gobllers will react ot the spring this year. It seamed like the rut was around 2 weeks behind the norm this past spring. I think if winter keeps going this way the tukrys will be out sooner this year and the rut will be right on time. If your price is accurate and the quality is decent, then more power to you and your taxidermist friend. With the amount I have spent this year alone on three pieces I am having done, it would have paid for me to ship the work to your neck of the woods. 0 1729 0 0 0 0 9032 0 956 Rod 0 1 209.240.207.249 1073087876 0 There are several at a state park near me, I see them frequently from my boat and have numerous photos of them. A lot of people think that there is only one albino deer on the park but I have seen as many as 3 together before. There have been albino's there for at least 20 years. I read somewhere once that the offspring from a pure albino doe have something like a 25-50% chance of being albino also. I guess there is enough albinism in the gene pool of the deer on the park that there are always a couple around year after year. I saw one in McDonough county, Illinois once about 25 years ago, the only other place I've ever seen an albino.

It is illegal to kill pure albino deer in Illinois. 0 1731 0 0 0 0 9033 0 795 wmramse 1 1 166.102.160.132 1073088245 0 My father-in-law got me a shoulder pad for the range...my wife is always complaining about how bruised my shoulder is from my muzzleloader! Also got some new Realtree Extra Gray camo clothes, and a 10-pt plastic deer head antenna topper (from my wife  )...hehe...mounted it myself  My Mom also got me a climbing stand and a vacuum cleaner - judging by how much my dog hates the vacuum, I can't imagine it will help me get any deer, so I'll probably let my wife use it most of the time

I also got enough money to get plenty of clearance stuff from Wally World. I also used that to get my bow tuned up and get the Trophy Ridge 3-pin Flatliner sight and an APA Ultimate arrow rest. The bow shoots clean, quiet, and true now.

Now if only I could convince the deer to walk in front of my bow...

The best part of my Christmas was when my father-in-law gave my nephew a box of .270 shells for his 30-30. They told him that they must have picked up the wrong box at Wal-Mart, so he could take them back and probably get 2 boxes of 30-30 shells...then he pulled his old .270 out of the cabinet and said, but since you have those bullets, might as well give you something to shoot them with. He grinned so big you coulda tied his smile behind his head with plenty left over biggrin.gif

Happy Holidays, all.

Albinism is just a lack of pigmentation, like in albino humans. There isn't anything else wrong with them that I know of other than they have really poor eyesight. They aren't endangering the regular deer in any way that I can see.

I don't know why the law concerning shooting them was changed, but I imagine it was likely just public sentiment. Maybe because of the ones at Sangchris since it's so close to the state capital, although that's just my guess. That may not be the reason at all.

Personally I don't have a problem with them being protected. I've been deer hunting for over 25 years and have only seen one albino in my life other than the ones at Sangchris, and that wasn't even while I was hunting. I have been using a Savage with a smoothbore barrel in modified choke and shooting rifled slugs for a long time. It is very accurate and those slugs have tremendous knock-down power. Lots of guys like the sabots too. But my 870 with a screw-in choke shoots the sabots really bad. I've tried 2 choke tubes and several kinds of sabots and it just isn't consistent so I don't deer hunt with it. Also be sure to use whatever brand slugs you sight in with for hunting too. My Savage shoots Winchester or Remington rifled slugs great but for some reason Federals aren't too good. Never have figured out why, it's easier to just use what works.

Also don't let me scare you about the screw-in choke tubes. Your gun may do fantastic with one. My 870 for some reason isn't a very good slug gun using a rifled tube. I've thought about just getting a rifled barrel instead of the screw-in tube, but my other gun does so well I can't justify spending the money for one. 0 1734 0 0 0 0 9056 0 997 Slider 0 1 63.190.33.25 1073097871 0 I use an HHA Optimiser 5000 with 3 ft. of Fiber Optic.(Green Pin) This sight will add apr. 10 Minutes of extra Hunting Time at Dawn and Dusk! Living in New York, we can only hunt with shotguns in the southern zone where I live. I had been carying a Browning auto 5 in 12 gauge for the longest time. I was shooting federal slugs, which seem to give me the best results with awsome knockdown power. The only problem I had was with shots over 80yds. My groups just weren't consistant. I recently bought a Remington 1100 with a synthetic stock in 20 gauge. I shoot Lightfield sabots and can consistantly shoot 3 inch groups at 100yds. At 150 yds. I shoot only 6 inches low. I feel with these results, the rifled barrel and sabot combo are the only way to go. Not only is the accuracy better, but it's alot nicer carrying the light 20 gauge around compared to that heavy 12. I shot 7 deer this season, at distances from 30yds to 85 yds and shot through all of them. Penetration is not a problem. There is a bow target my friend put up behind my house in this clearing in the woods. There is about five acres of woods and 2 50 acre fields. Anyways i was back there looking at the land, because i recently got permission to bow hunt it.I was looking for a place to put up a ladder stand for next archery season. I found 39 buck rubs on 5 acres!! it was crazy, but i knew why. I have a 55 year old friend who showed me the great sport of bow hunting who lended me the first pse compound bow made, he had it laying around and lent it to me. Before the beging of achery season i was back sighting it in at 10 yards. After i had sighted the 10 yard in i was walking back to the 20 yard mark, as i was walking i looked up and saw a doe trauting towards the brush. So i ducked down and crawled 20 yards towards the taget so i could attempt to watch it. When i got to the target i got up behind it to look for the doe, as i was looking around i noticed it flaging as it was running. Well i wasnt done looking at the deer so i followed this little road back to the fields where a hay barn is and got up above the field to watch the deer come out. As i sat there for about 10 minutes i didnt see anything so i walked back to the target, as i was walking in to the clearing i looked up to see if the doe was back there. As i was scanning the area i noticed some low hanging tree branches moving so i looked harder. Come to find out i was staring at the biggest 10 point ive ever seen, 60 yards away from me! i didnt know what else to do besides duck and watch it run. I was SO sick after that happened to me. But i have gotten my ladder stand up back there ready for next season. I gave the bow back to my friend because it was way to short of a draw for me. So ive had a massive 10 pointer basicaly in my back yard for 4-5 months now sad.gif and no bow to take it with. Oh well i just figured id share that story with yall.
