Christy.....is that you??
As far as conservation goes as hunters we play a huge role in not letting wildlife get out of control. When animals get over populated it can bring such diseases as blue tongue and wipe out an entire deer heard which seeing a deer with blue tongue(I have) it is not a pretty site.
Another great asset of being a hunter is giving meat to the food banks. We as hunters feed over 400,000 hungry families down south.Thinks about it,thats alot of hungry kids, grown ups,and the eldery people. It is nice to know that when I give to a food bank(hunters feeding the hungry program)I am making sure that someone out there will not go hungry. 0 14920 0 0 0 0 111739 0 -1 Anonymous 1 1 208.246.86.5 1106769385 0 Ha,ha, you guys(and gal) are too funny.Just hot down south peeps. It is 75 freaking degrees. 0 15050 0 0 0 0 111740 0 -1 Anonymous 1 1 208.246.86.5 1106769508 0 I thought about you the other day.Me and some friends shoot ball on thursday nights at the church gym.Sure wish you could come down so I could give you your hermon monster spanking on the court ha,ha.I love playing against someone skinny and tall.

All valid concerns. I actually shoot the Montec G5 for elk, which is a fixed 3 blade head. I had my bow paper tuned and these heads fly extremely well, even at longer distances like 40 and 50 yards. So I agree with what you are saying and appreciated the facts to back up your position. I'm not sure everyone goes to the trouble of having their bows paper tuned, particularly when a field point tends to be so much more forgiving so the average shooter doesn't always realize their bow is not properly tuned. Just curious, did you get a complete pass through with the expandable? I've never personally shot any of the NAP expandables but have a lot of friends who do and they speak very highly of those heads. The blood trail from Snypers and Steelheads are what I would call good, whereas my four year old son used to trail the deer I shot with Rocket Sidewinders...it was like someone poured and sprayed blood everywhere, but I always got complete pass throughs.
Try the Rocky Mountain titanium heads sometime; you'll love em if you like fixed blade heads.

No, I generally stay away from locator calls with the exception of an occassional owl hoot and the crow call. I have had good luck with both of these as a last resort. I generally let the birds do their own thing...if they are going to gobble on the roost they will generally do so without you using a locator call. I also try to find roost areas and get close to these areas before flydown...if you are careful and listen closely you can often hear a bird fly down...if I am there early and I hear a bird fly down I can sit tight for a while after first light and do some blind calling and lot of times a silent bird will sneak in without ever gobbling. I killed a couple birds like that last spring. Later in the day I tend to focus on making soft turkey sounds in areas where I am finding alot of sign or areas I know are traditionally good spots for late mornings/afternoons, etc.
One other tip...it has been my experience that soft calling is much more effective on public land, particularly on older birds. I used to be a very agressive caller...during that time I killed a lot of 2 yr old longbeards. After switching to softer and more subdued calling my success on 3 yr old + birds went up dramatically. At least that has been my experience.
