Welcome to the forums. If want to see how they work, and when to use it etc., the best thing I can tell you is to watch Primos Truth 11 and 12 (whitetail series). There you can watch the Primos team bring in several different bucks with the can. Pay attention to what they do and it will help you more then we can tell you here. Good luck

Hi,
The best advice I could give you or ANY hunter on how and when to call deer, is to get out there as often as you can, during the other 10 months of the year and simply observe and study deer in the wild. Most hunters only use a deer call when actually hunting. Even many of the hosts on TV hunting shows don't have a CLUE as to what they are doing with a deer call, from what I've seen. Deer have many, many sounds they make and only a scant few can be mimicked by commercial deer calls. Once you witness how deer respond to one another and how they communicate with each other, year-round, you'll have no trouble calling in deer. Practice in the off season and you'll sound good when you actually hunt. The can call you mention is a simple and generic deer bleat, a sound deer make every day of their lives. You won't scare anything away doing it. Both bucks and does make bleats, by the way, and it's not a sound that's only made during the rut. The Can calls make a sound that any deer can identify and it's not aggressive, so can be highly effective on a buck that's seeking out a doe, in the fall. -Jim
