Has anyone ever hunted near overbrook Kansas, I'm headed there opening day in a week, just wanting some feedback. Basically if you've hunted around the Topeka area.

welcome to the cabin man good luck on your hunt. Are you taking a blind? How about a killer-b decoy? My friend and I went to public ground around millford lake in 2010 the last morning of our hunt we called up 6turkeys 3 jakes and 3 long beards in 45 min. of those my buddy shot 2 of the long beards with his bow. I could have killed the other one but it was on the wrong side of the blind. We were set up in a struting area about 10 am with wind about 30mph. we had a great time. good luck.

Thanks, I'm sure I'll take my blind, I've been to several other states but just never to Kansas, I may need to take my license plate off after this NCAA tournament(haha) but I just wondered how the turkey population was in that area |

Overbrook area or anywhere in that part of Kansas is going to be good. Kansas has good turkey hunting just about everywhere till you get about an hour or two west of Salina.

I lived in Lawrence for about 4 years. Hunted some private ground along Kansas River on east side of town and there is a lot of public ground on westside of town. Clinton lake area. I think there was about 7,000 acres of public land. A lot of turkeys in that area. If you have time, I would ask some farmers in the area, never had any problems getting permission.
Good luck to you. -------------------- |

You can also look here for public access to private land. Kansas has walk in hunting program that is just ridiculously cool.
