Just setting up a thread for guys from New York, or any northern state for that matter, to track the turkey season as it progresses. Was wondering if anyone has seen any strutters, heard gobbling etc. I thought it would be neat to see how the season unfolds across the north.

Today was the first time I saw any sort of spring turkey behavior. Saw a huge flock of birds, with multiple jakes and toms strutting at GCC.

livein PA, 40 minutes from the NY border. Saw 3 strutters today. The FIrst I have seen. The turkey numbers seem very low in my area this year. Might not have to fight the hens so bad.

Yesterday I was in the woods before light. Gobbling was moderate in the distance. Sat down and two groups of birds came right at 50 yds by me. No calling by me. 4 strutting longbeards 8 jakes and over 15 hens. Gobbling, yelping, purring, fighting and the works. One beautiful morning

I thought for sure I would see something today to anf from work but nothing. I think this weekend, I'll take a seat at the base of a big ol' tree at dawn and give it a listen.

Tommy, I drive by gcc a couple times a week and haven't seen them.
I drive around 500 miles a week and haven't seen a turkey since deer season, no lie.

Guys

Anyone know how much snow they got around the Catskills this year? We are planning our annual trip and were curious as to how the birds made out. Going to be a long six weeks!

Thanks
Jeff

I have seen a little activity. I live in St. Lawrence County on the Canadian boarder/along the St. Lawrence River. I drive to work from Hammond to LaFargeville (next county) over. Seen a strutter on Monday, there was some gobbling and strutting going on last weekend in some areas. This weekend should be nice for seeing stuff...69 both days!
