I am looking to hunt in Colorado the first week of the archery elk season 2012. I have been looking at a variety of outfitters including Winterhawk Outfitters. I was just wondering if anyone has ever went to Winterhawk and if they would recommend it. Any suggestions will be appreciated! Thanks!

Do a web search for outfitters review in Colorado. I might be well worth your money. Maybe Deadeye and Doeswell can give you tips.

Thanks guys. I have been looking at Winterhawk Outfitters which is out of Colbran, where they hunt the flat tops. If any of you have information about that location I would appreciate anything.

The Flattops are super thick and hard to hunt but it has a ton of elk. My buddy just shot his first cow up there. I've hunted up there a few times, its very pretty up there in the fall, sometimes it has a lot of other hunters too, also I've never seen so much bear sign in one area as I have up there.

Just did a real quick search and saw many poor reviews!!! I only cheched them out because Colburn is not really what I would call close to the Flat-Tops seems a little weird to me. I am a DIY guy but where I hunt we have an outfitter who I have helped wrangle horses and even ride supplies to his spike camps in the Flat Tops he seems to be a good guy, and a huge supporter of habitat and the Elk Foundation problem is it takes points to draw.

Try Steve Bigerstaff I think his website is www.biggerstaffhound.com I have dealt with him buying dogs and he seems like he has a heck of an operation and he has been nothing but honest and trustworthy in our dealings.

I agree with Buckykm, I am DIY, but you might want to check a few sites
http://www.bowsite.com - go to the Colorado forum, and ask there, there are a bunch of guys who have done all sorts of hunting, especially archery hunting, and can point you in the right direction. The other site I like is http://www.coloradowaterfowl.com although its mainly a waterfowl hunting site, it does have a good amount of other hunters as well, and there is a big game forum and a bowhunting forum you might find helpful. Best of luck! -------------------- |
