A friend of mine got his son a 500 combo several years ago and it was money well spent. When he got older it cost around $60 to change the stock. That things been used and abused and it still functions fine.

I bought my 6 year old a Mossberg 500 in .410, Brand new for under $250 couldn't beat it.Matter of fact I've taken it out by myself to bag some ohio tree rats True they can rattle a bit. (not awfull though imo) and there are much better guns out there.
But I think with mossberg you get MORE than what you pay for. actually I plan on buying 2 more in 20ga and 12ga to complete the set..as he out grows them and moves on to bigger and better..and more expensive guns sad.gif he can pass them down to his little brother. biggrin.gif
