Please read and understand this entire post.
Your team's score depends on you posting the required pictures! Please post any scoring/entry-related questions here.

Again, if you join, please participate! ALL MEMBERS are required to check in within 7 days of teams being picked or you will be replaced. We will not hesitate to bump you off a team and replace you with a willing Cabin member once the 7 day check-in period has ceased.

Entry requirements:
You gotta have pics of the bird! Take as many as you need to to make sure you have what is needed for entry. The mods will do everything possible to help your score count, but you gotta meet us half way! At a minimum we need:

Required Pictures

1-A picture of you, the bird, and a piece of paper with a date on it. ALL THREE MUST BE IN THE SAME PICTURE. Ideally the piece of paper should include your screen name, date, and score of the bird, but we will also accept anything that proves the bird was taken this year - current newspaper, magazine, tag, new piece of gear that was just released - anything that can help us be sure it's this year's kill.

2-A picture of the beard (still attached to the bird, DO NOT CUT OFF BEARD) and tape measure showing the length. Show entire length of beard and tape measure, including the tip.

3-A picture of each spur and a tape measure showing the length. Spurs must still be attached to the leg.

Scoring:
Scores will be determined by spur length x 10 plus beard length x 2.

We no longer include weight into the scoring system because of problems in past year's contests.

For instance:
Beard is 8.5" - 8.5x2=17 pts.
Spurs 1" & 1-1/8" - 2.125x10=21.25 pts.
17 + 21.25 = 38.25 pts. total

All kills will be scored to the nearest 1/8th inch.

Only 1 bird may be entered per contestant. If you take a bigger bird after you have entered first, you may upgrade to the better bird. When you upgrade it will cancel out the previous entry.

Each member's bird will count toward the team's total points.

In the event of a tie, we will match the teams' top bird, second bird, third bird, etc. until we have a higher score for one team.

All kills must be submitted by June 15th, 2012 with the proper pics!

Disputing Entries
Members have 1 week from the day an entry is submitted to dispute the entry. PM a mod with your dispute. A public dipute on the board may result in a 5 point deduction to your TEAM score. There is no reason to trash talk an entry on the forum.

NOTE:There are always a few entries that get thrown out because we are unable to verify the date it was killed, so here's a tip - pull a piece of paper off your printer RIGHT NOW, write your screen name and team on it in big letters, then take it and a pen to where you stow your hunting gear and put it in your vest/pack/boot/truck/pocket or wherever else you know for sure you'll have it with you when you get to the woods.

Good luck and good hunting folks!

Are multi-bearded birds allowed, or do you just take the longest one the bird has for the purpose of this contest? I'm asking because i have some pics of a nice one with a handfull of beards that i hope to kill this spring.

multiple beard turkeys count, or have in the past. I think three years ago or so jimmy 2 frogs killed a bird with five or so beards. so yes, to answer your question, multiple bearded turkeys have counted in the past and I'm assuming still will. just make sure to take pics of all the beards!

Like turkeyjerky said, multi-bearded birds will count as long as you take pictures to show all beards at once still on the bird and then single measurements of all beards. We've had a multi-bearded bird entered just about every contest we've run so far.
