1st time hunting in unit 33, New Mexico for mule deer in Jan. archery. Any pointers on where to hunt, etc.

I have never hunted NM, But welcome to the Cabin, and good luck.
If it is like other States, with lots of public land ?, i would stay close to my truck, and glass from high spots, and cover a lot of ground, till i found a decent buck, then try to do a stalk on him. ?
