Hey guys! Just got back from a week long deer hunting trip up in the sierra nevada mountains. I got a pretty nice buck opening day and towards the end of the trip my dad got a little forky.
My buck story: Opening day, october 15, 2011 I walked up this hill right out of camp and when i was able to look over the hill I saw this buck with a spike walking towards me at about 60 yards. I got on my knees and was trying to calm myself down from hiking up this hill and I wanted this buck to get closer to me. So I poked my head up a couple times waiting for the right moment to stand up and shoot. After calming myself down and sending a little prayer to God, I stood up and made a bad shot and hit him in his upper back leg, he jumped up and ran closer to me! not knowing where i was. he stopped at about 25 yards and I made a second shot right in the sweet spot and brought him down! We guessed he weighed about 175 lbs and measured 22inches wide. http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i13/dant...06/IMG_0160.jpg http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i13/dant...06/DSCN0894.jpg http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i13/dant...06/DSCN0893.jpg http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i13/dant...06/DSCN0890.jpg Dads Buck Story: The 4th day of our trip in the evening, my dad and I decided to walk this trail and go watch some canyons like less then a quarter mile away from camp. my dad actually forgot his binoculours at camp and he got bored and we decided to go back about 45 min before dark and while we are walking back on the trail, out of know where this little forky jumps out in front of us and my dad gave him a 7mm mag round right in the sweet spot! at about 40 yards! Got a bunch of Golden Trout and Brook Trout. Only got one picture of a golden my dad got. Those goldens are sure a pretty fish. You guys did real good. Nice 3 point and that forky will eat good. Congrats. That is some really nice country there to. That golden is a cool looking trout for sure. Good luck and God bless.
