9-1, Before we were to head out to the stands, a couple friends and myself were sitting in our cabin grabbing a quick lunch. The topic of coarse was who was going to kill first and how big was it going to be.As we went around the table making our predictions and getting a good laugh,I make mention that I have never scored on the opener and probebly would not on this trip either. Now this would not hurt my feelings a whole lot since the guys who kill first of coarse are done hunting, but they also become the cooks and house keepers. 30 minutes into the opener here comes a 250 pounder, it didn't take much time to decide that I was just going to watch the show. He ended up staying there for almost 2 hours. I can't descibe how it felt to just hang out with him and watch him do what bears do. After he walked off it wasn't much longer and here comes a sow and cub. The unwritten rule in camp is to not take her for the cubs sake. another good show that lasted until after dark.
Later that night after we gathered everyone up, we infact had 2 bears down. 225# and 340#. No house work for me..... smile.gif due to the trail camera saying that the sow was onto me and went nocturnal, I moved my stand to another BMA. day 5 was as slow as 2 through 4. Day 6 was just as bad until 7:45 when this bruiser comes in from my right. As soon as I had seen him coming in, all the being picky all week went right out the window. That being said,I did not take the time to size him up. I knew from quite a distance he was a shooter, just not how good. I did not realize it until after the shot, but I thought to myself......self,did he really just put his head over top of the barrel with all four still on the ground? He sure did. After I shot he let out a roar and ran straight away. After my ride got there we headed in and found him over the side of a steep 40 ft hill. It was worth pulling all 450# up the hill,(at least to me) the other 2 guys probebly didn't have the same thoughts. It was another great Ontario hunt that I will long remember.I am going to try and post a link.If it doesn't work friend me on facebook and check it out there(Michael Chad Dunlap)
