Was out cruising the foothills of the blues for a buck, then all of a sudden a herd of about 20 cows go running up the other side of hill. I can't believe how low they are this time of year. If they were on my side I would took one, may be a good season for Elk around these parts.

Looks like I'm hunting opening morning Saturday for elk. If nothing happens i'm going antelope hunting for three days. 187 Elk is on his sheep hunt. Hopefully he knocks one down this weekend.

I leave next Thursday for my 10 day elk hunt. I heard of snow hittin gsome Montana mountain ranges last night. Much cooler today, but warming up.

Good luck to all.

Need a team name soon... Anyways, got back from a 5 day camping/scouting trip. Bulls were still quiet for the most part. Had a blast, saw some elk, deer, turkey, antelope , and a coyote. Spent good time with the wifey and 18mo old daughter. Highlight was hiking one morning and smelling the elk before I saw them. As soon as I smelled them I sat down and right after that 2 cows with 2 calves walked within 30yds of me and didn't even see me. Tried to get some pics but didn't wanna spook the cows with movement. Oh well....

Team name should be Elknutz. Two of us on the team have won the last two years and shot bulls. It might be a "lucky" name.

Leave on Thursday for ten days. Its so hot in Montana for this time of year. Last year is was cold and snowing in the mountains. It can all change over night, but this week is forcasted to be in the 80's until Sunday.
