During the summer and pre-rut deer are on pretty routine travel patterns. But when things start to heat up during the rut, how far will deer (mainly bucks) travel?

I HAVE SEEN THEM TRAVEL FOR MORE THAN A MILE. JUST DEPENDS ON WHERE HE HAS TO FIND THE DOES AND WHERE THEY TRAVEL.

They all have there area's that they make there scrape s in. Some make it larger than others. When 2 big boys or 2 matched size bucks cross each others territory they get into the fighting mood. If there are alot of deer in an area they wouldn't have to travel far. If there is a small deer to mile ratioo they will go several miles. Find the does and you will find the bucks during the rut. wink.gif

It depends on how much land you have of woods and what not. Make some scrapes if you want the bucks 2 come to you. make sure your out there calling during that perfect week. i think they will travel about 1 square mile.

Have heard of bucks traveling up to 5 miles in some cases. But if there are plenty of does around I dont think they go to awful far unless a bigger buck comes in and takes over their territory. Around the area were I live the buck to doe ratio is so far off I dont think they really go anywhere.

There's a group of 4 does and another 2 that always stick together on our land. We have a lot of small bucks (spikes, 4s, and 6's) hangin around and only a few 8's on the trail cam. Do you think any big bucks will come around during the rut if all those little boys are runnin around?

Same does pass by everyday. A group of 4 is there everyday. I've only been out once so far and saw all 4 of them hunting too. That group of 4 and then some loners and groups of 2 every now and then. But we get pictures of does everyday. It's about 16-20 pictures a week of does and then about 4-6 pictures of bucks a week.
