For all of those who hunt pheasants. How is the pheasant population looking this year. The drought in the central portion of the state has hurt numbers a little. Here in the eastern portion of the state bird numbers are really looking good. Seems like there are pheasants everywhere you look.

Really looking forward to the opener. This will be my first year hunting behind a pointer. Bought a fully trained 4 year old female that is an awesome pheasant dog. Counting the days, 26 to our resident only opener. biggrin.gif

You should do pretty well around there. On the 26 miles stretch from hwy 212 to Miller I counted 126 roosters that I could see while driving. This was in March on my way to Chamberlain. There was a lot of birds that way back in March, should be good this fall. I haven't heard any recent reports from that area. Good luck, you should have a good time.

I bought a 4 year old fully trained female German Shorthaired Pointer. She just had a litter of pups 7 weeks ago. Here's a pic of her and of her pups the day after they were born. 7 males and 3 females. I also have a 4 month old solid black male that will be used as my stud dog.

The eastern half of SD should be pretty good. The northwest, northcentral region of Iowa will be pretty good but not as good as South Dakota.

Thanks. I don't know of any personally but I'm sure I could find out from the guy that is helping me get started in raising GSP's. He is going to do some guiding somewhere near the river this year. Let me know if you would like me to check into it.
