I spend most of my time (and money, well a large portion of it at least) in the Deer and Turks sections of this site. But, to be honest, I think wingshooting is my favorite of all.

I am blessed because I have family land in South Dakota that we get to hunt each fall. But pheasants are the reason I hunt everything else. My first ever kill was a pheasant at the ripe old age of 29, with my wife's grandfather's 1942 Sweet Sixteen (you gotta start somewhere when you grow up on a golf course). That trip led to turkeys, which led to bow hunting, which led to gun deer, which led to varmints, which will lead to ducks and geese. I love to hunt, even more than golf. Almost all of my vacation days are planned around: the spring turkey season, the SD opener, and the rut.

I don't see alot of folks here that swing the 20 guages at the chinese birds. Any other fans on this site?

Daver

I have been know to put down the bow for at least a couple of weeks in October to chase pheasant up and down coulees up here in Southern Alberta. Its a nice change of pace for a couple of weeks before the rut starts up.

I love it, I've been to Iowa the last 2 years on pheasant hunting trips and have been really successful!! I killed the first one that got up for me!! 1 shot 1 bird isshe!! biggrin.gif  8) I absolutely love it! I will not get to go to Iowa this year as I'm going to Wyoming on a deer hunt in November, but we are trying to find a place to pheasant hunt for a day while we are up there, Wingshooting is becoming my favorite hunting by far, I absolutely love it, I know I said that earlier, but I just do!! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

I live in mitchell south dakota, and man I don't know what I'd do without pheasants. The season opens next weekend for resient hunters, but you can only hunt on public land, so I probably won't go. I have to say my favorite way to hunt em' i roadhunting. Walking s firld is great, bu it gets a little boring walking feilds all day. When road hunting, it;s a rush everytime.

If it flies it dies!

I missed the Montana opener yesterday due to work. Believe me my black lab knows its time to kick out some birds! I cant wait for her to flush them out for me. I come home today and then its pheasant dinner on Monday night! There are so many seasons opened right now in Montana I dont know what to hunt for. I think thats called a good problem not a bad one 8)
